Saint Lazar Manchester Terriers

Breeder, On Planet Earth, of Top Quality Manchester's, For Over 50 Yrs.

Above are Esther (L) and Frenchie (R) pictured on 3/1/24/. I don't remember what had their attention, but it was about 4 PM so maybe they were waiting on supper. Both were bred in November, but both had very rare "false" pregnancies. It's been many years since we last experienced this, much less two at one time. Sire is young and has produced a fine litter. So we will try again next heat. In the meantime it looks like I will show Esther again, she only needs a bit to achieve her AKC Championship. We love these creatures, they sleep with us every night. Thank you LORD!

MAJOR REVISION - SAINT LAZAR WEB SITE

Saint Lazar has been long overdue for a major web site revision, and here is the beginning. Much has taken place at Saint Lazar since the current site was published 5/30/10. My wife, Wanda Potts Walker, passed into the loving hands of OUR LORD on 5/5/11, and life for me, Charles Walker, after 49 yrs and 7 mo of marriage, forever changed. It was rough for a season, but as HE promised, the LORD did not "leave me nor forsake me". He introduced me to Carol Vinci RN in late 2011, and we were married 3/25/15. We lived on Lake Oconee until January 2022 at which time we moved to a magnificent 33 acres, close to the Lake, where we built a nice "downsized" home with a new kennel. This facility will be shown in more detail as the new web site flesh's out. Gracious, life REALLY changed! I have a new Toro zero turn mower, and a new 30" DR brush cutter (I had one of these magnificent machines at Jasper County), and the Ford 2810, 35 HP diesel tractor with 5" bush hog that came with the acreage, all to help me maintain the property. At almost 82 years of age, I am extremely thankful to the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY that he had has allowed me this time and this place, and Carol.

I dont want to get too "wordy" but I will be posting regular updates here. In the meantime, with the exception of Emme and Frenchie, all of our Manchester's are in residence in the new kennel. They love the huge fenced space they have to roam. We currently have a modest puppy waiting list, but Esther is definitely pregnant and should have her pups around August 6th. Lydia and Seri have also been bred, and if they have conceived, they also would be due in August. (Revisied 7/14/22)

LATEST NEWS FROM SAINT LAZAR - JULY 19, 2023

My how time flies when you are having fun. Seriously, we have really been enjoying our time in Putnam County Georgia. We got the old barn torn down, and a new 30 X 40 metal storage building installed in its place on May 30th. We now have great space for our equipment, and even share some with Carol's brother, Gerry, who lives next to us. With help from Gerry, and his wife, Tammy, my son, Martin, Carol's sister, Linda, and Carol, we erected a 30' commercial flag in our front area on July 3rd. It is a delight to us all. Finally, Frenchie, presented us with 4 pups on July 8th, see videos and updated on these four here as time goes on. We are hoping to maybe have a couple more litters later in the Summer. We appreciate your visit here, and hopefully we will be able to do more regular updates, and expansion of this web site.

NOTE: Our "old" website is still available, many photos and information remain. Go Here: www.cwalker.net/manchesters

FRENCHY MALE PUP AVAILABLE - BORN 7-8-23 SOLD!

SOLD SOON AFTER THIS PHOTO WAS POSTED - The pup pictured above on 8/10, with my sister-in-law, Tammy Foucher, is the smallest in the litter. His brother is slightly larger, and I will be keeping him and one of his sisters. The other girl will be going a great home in Shamrock, Texas. You might notice that this fine little fellow already has his small ears erect. I have started feeding them as Frenchy seems to be wanting to wean them early. I grind the Victor food (great stuff!) and add a bit of goats milk, warm it a tad in the microwave, and they are lapping it up. Their teeth have not come in completely yet, but no matter they eat it quickly. The price for this little guy is $2500, Limited AKC Registration. His Sire is Ch Saint Lazar's Aden, our 311th AKC Champion. Call Charlie 404-861-7714

The above images were taken Thursday, 7/20, around 8 AM. The pups are sleeping while Mama is outside taking care of business. Seconds after putting her back in with them, they are back nursing. I expect their eyes to open anytime now, and then they really get active. We usually hear little "woofs" or barks around 3 weeks of age. As I have stated many times before, i nerver tire of having Manchester puppies. Thank you LORD!

Manchester's have it really rough at Saint Lazar. Photo above was taken with my iPhone 13 as we sat at our dining room table Saturday night, 7/24/23. Our long time friends, Tobby and Ginger Jones, who purchased Jillian from us in 2000, came down from Charlotte, NC for a visit. We were playing "Phase 10" card game, when Lydia had to be picked up by my sister in law, Tammy Foucher. Husband, Gerry, is dealing. Linda Blount, Carol's sister and our neighbor, is playing too. This game went on until 2:30 AM Sunday morning. Hard to get up and get to Church on time, but we did. Esther, Baxter, and Smitty, were content to sleep on the sofas while we played. Lydia stays with Tammy and Gerry, who live adjacent to us. Lydia is loved by us all, and she knows it.

GOOD NEWS - NEW EMME PUPS 1-15-23

Emme had a very easy delivery on January 15th and gave us 2 girls and 1 boy. Nickolas is the proud sire, and this is his first litter. They are shown above with my Son, Martin, at age 4 weeks, 2/13/23. Martin has been around Toy Manchester's since 1965, he loves them dearly. NOTE: 3/6/24 - We still have these 3 pups, and are keeping the boy and the larger female. The small girl is going to a wonderful home in New Hampshire to a long time Saint Lazar owner in August. WE HOPE SIMON, THE BOY WILL MAKE HIS SHOW DEBUT 3/28/24 - GOD WILLING !

For a number of years, we have kept new litters in our "small animal" cages, which I refer to as "bassinette's", and which we obtained from PetSmart originally. We have 3, and they are great until the pups are about 4 weeks old, and then the pups need more room, particularly the larger litters. As shown above, I put one of the exercise pens down in the house and placed the Emme pups in it, along with a #200 Sky Kennel. They and Mama have plenty of room, and they will be fine until they go to new homes, or transition to the kennel. They will always get plenty of love and attention, even as they move to the kennel. Our guys and gals always produce superior temperaments, as is Saint Lazar's reputation, but the boy and his two sisters in this litter are exceptional, already manifesting this characteristic at this tender age. Those little tails wag away when we speak to them. And pick them up. We are so grateful to the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY for all these years with these wonderful creatures!

FrenchyEsther7-23.jpg

We have 3 dogs in the house, Esther behind Frenchie, and Baxter the Shih Tzu, who just turned a year old. As you may notice, Frenchie is pregnant here, and she whelped 4 lovely puppies on July 8th. They are shown on this site. In normal times, our house dwellers sleep with us, at Carol's insistence. But I'm used to it now. They are shown watching Carol eat breakfast knowing full well they she will give them something. Rotten dogs, but we love them big time. (7-18-23)

Lydia bred to Aden, produced this very handsome, and totally "correct" show quality male, Saint Lazar's Bartholomew, on 8/17/22. His brother, every bit his equal, went to a wonderful home in Las Vegas, six days ago. This image was taken on 8/5, a very hot day in the 90's, and he is resting in the shade of one of huge pecan trees. The other dogs were resting nearby. Bart is affectionate to the extreme (almost) and I have to give him plenty of attention. He is missing his brother Obe, and I am thinking of maybe putting Emme's girl that I am keeping, with him. She is 7 months old, and smaller than Bart, but I think they may get along fine together. Most everyone is free in our very large exercise area, so they really only need to sleep together. Pairing male and female in a run has worked quite well for going on 30 years. Saint Lazar is still producing the finest quality Toy Manchester's on Planet Earth, and this is due to the Grace of GOD. WE HOPE BART'S SHOW DEBUT WILL BE 3/28/24 - HE TOO PRETTY TO BE LOAFING AROUND THE KENNEL

Saint Lazar's Bartholomew (L) and Obediah (R) shown in the exercise yard at about 10 months of age. Both of these fine boys are solid "show" quality. Typical Saint Lazar males, Obe now resides in a great Manchester home in Las Vegas. I hope to be able to show Bart, (getting old is not for sissies).  Both of these boys can trace their lineage back several decades to our Klay, the greatest Stud Dog ever. NO ONE can produce a Toy Manchester pedigree than can approach that of these guys. To GOD be the Glory!

ESTHER-ADEN PUPS CAME 8-5-22 AT 12:45 AM TO 4 AM "YAWN" - 3 BIG BOYS

EstherAden2boys8-3-22.jpg

Esther delivered her pups beside Carol and I on the sofa while we were watching Netflix. Of course, I paused the TV while we assisted. Three boys, the first came breech and I gave him a pretty good tug to help him out. The 2nd came normal, headfirst, but I pulled him too as all these guys are big healthy pups. The 3rd came breech, and I again had to give a good pull once I could reach his feet. I had to learn to do this in the 60's with "Georgia Girl", who was not an easy whelper. The main thing to learn is just how tough they are and how hard you can pull without injury, they can take a lot more than one would think. All were very vigorous and began nursing immediately. See photo below where they are 5 hours old. Nap time for me this afternoon, but there is nothing better than new puppies.

EstherAdenBoys8-5-22.jpg

This was taken about 5 hours after their birth. You can easily discern Esther is comfy and relaxed in one of our larger puppy bassinets. It's placed in our great room where we can see each other all the time. She will live here until the pups are ready to wean, usually around 6 weeks of age. Naturally we will take her out for potty time and exercise frequently. She is a "house dog" and normally would be sleeping with us, but she has been through this before, and will be patient until she can snuggle with us again. A typical Saint Lazar mother, smart as a whip, affectionate, she pretty much wants to be the "Alfa dog". However, Seri also thinks she is.

The above image taken 5/2/22 as I sat on the sofa in our new home just starting work on this web site. Seri is in the foreground, an Aden/Frenchy gal, who just turned 1 year old. Behind her is Lydia, whose sire was Zorro from his last litter. They now sleep in the new kennel, but pregnant Esther still sleeps with us.

Our new home in Eatonton, GA shown on 7/18/23. I Still stay very busy planting shrubs, flowers, grass, etc. I spend a good bit of time taking care of these 30 acres, recently planting shrubs around the new barn shown to the left of the house. The fencing has been completed, and the dogs have about an acre behind the house to roam in good weather. They are free to go into their runs and into the air conditioned kennel to their crate when they wish. We installed the new 30' commercial flag pole on July 3rd, just in time to celebrate the 4th.

NewKennelPainted5-2-22.jpg

The new kennel is painted to match the house and is now housing our boys and girls. It has a washer, dryer, laundry sink, and a hot water heater. The building is foam insulated and stays quite comfortable, even in temperature extremes.

"Without God's blessing I look for no success, and for every success my prayer is, that all the glory may be given unto Him to whom it is properly due. If people would but give all the glory to God and regard his creatures as but unworthy instruments my heart would rejoice. Alas too frequently the praise is bestowed upon the creature. " Lieutenant General Thomas J. (Stonewall) Jackson CSA, 31 July 1862.

EmmePups2-2-18.jpg

Here is Carol with Esther's mom, Emerald Princess, "Emme". Her pups always have magnificent markings, which are so important for a "correct" Manchester Terrier.  Emme passed into the care of our Loving LORD in May,2023, we miss her very, much.
